History
Rich in history and brimming with natural beauty, Antalya is one of Turkey’s most fascinating cities. First settled around 200 BC by the Attalid dynasty of Pergamon, the Romans took over and the city thrived, with monuments such as Hadrian’s Gate erected. Since then, the city changed hands several times but the newly independent Turkey recaptured it soon after their victory in the War of Independence in 1923.
