History
Lujo Hotel is located on the beautiful Guvercinlik Bay on Bodrum peninsula and opened its doors in 2018. Bodrum is a port city in Southwestern Turkey with a fascinating history. The region's proximity to Greece and accessibility by water has seen it occupied by several different civilisations. The city was once called Halicarnassus of Caria before it fell under Persian rule and became Satrapy of Caria. Ruled by Mausolus for many years, his wife famously built the Mausoleum of Mausolus after his death. The Mausoleum has been named one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. After several other Hellenistic rulers, the region was briefly independent until 129 BCE, when the Romans captured it. The ancient Catholic order of the Knights Hospitaller came to the area in 1402 and used the remains of the Mausoleum to build Bodrum Castle, which is still standing today. Bodrum has since been established as a luxury travel and events destination, with Lujo Hotel as its crown jewel.
