Review

One Moorgate Place is a stunning and historic grade-II listed venue in the heart of the City of London. Located just a five-minute walk from Liverpool Street, Moorgate or Bank underground stations, it is easily accessible for all attendees. Event spaces at One Moorgate Place combine elegant features with contemporary style. Opulent spaces such as the Main Reception Room and Members Room remain true to the building’s historical and cultural heritage and will impress your attendees. Meanwhile, more contemporary and modern spaces such as the Auditorium and Great Hall are perfect for conferences and business meetings of varying sizes, complete with state of the art technology.

Upon arrival, your guests will be confronted with the focal point of One Moorgate Place. With its impressive domed glass ceiling and colourful stained-glass windows, the main reception area makes for a stunning and captivating space. This grandeur is complemented by dramatic stone columns and an elaborate chandelier. Combined, the high ceiling and spacious area make it perfect for a standing reception of up to 100 people. Alternatively, it is also a fabulous option for a small presentation or for an intimate dinner for up to 60 people.

Moving through the venue, the Members’ Room is regarded as the jewel of One Moorgate Place as it typifies the character of the building in a single space. Sir John Belcher designed this iconic and charming room to feature a Venetian bridge in the middle and it is thought to be one of the only indoor bridges in the UK. Given its charming aesthetics, it is a great space for drinks receptions, meetings, boardroom meetings, lunches, or presentations.

Other rooms include the Business Centre (up to 70 guests), auditorium (20-110 guests), the auditorium lounge (10-110 guests), the Great Hall (60-600 guests), and a variety of meeting and board rooms (2-24 guests each).

To make sure your event is a success, the One Moorgate Place events team will help ensure your months of meticulous planning and preparation come together. Every member of this highly trained team is there to help make your event memorable, from the person who greets your delegates at the door to your allocated event manager, One Moorgate Place will ensure the success of your event.

History

One Moorgate Place is a grade II listed building which opened in 1893 as the HQ of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW). As it stands, the building is one of the richest examples of late Victorian architecture in the city and is praised for its seamless integration of sculpture. The building's architect, John Belcher, drew on Baroque architecture that he studied while travelling in Europe; this building helped establish Belcher's own fame.

With extensions and updates taking place throughout its history, some areas have a strong art-deco feel that juxtaposes the building's original features. Today, designers have renovated the building to cater to the wants and needs of the events and conferencing market. To do so, they have kept up with the technical developments of the 21st century while retaining the culture and heritage of the original build.
