With its impressive domed glass ceiling and colourful stained-glass windows, the main reception area makes for a stunning and captivating space. This grandeur is complemented by dramatic stone columns and an elaborate chandelier. Combined, the high ceiling and spacious area make it perfect for a standing reception of up to 100 people. Alternatively, it is also a fabulous option for a small presentation or for an intimate dinner for up to 60 people.
Moving through the venue, the Members’ Room is regarded as the jewel of One Moorgate Place as it typifies the character of the building in a single space. History
One Moorgate Place is a grade II listed building which opened in 1893 as the HQ of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW). As it stands, the building is one of the richest examples of late Victorian architecture in the city and is praised for its seamless integration of sculpture. The building's architect, John Belcher, drew on Baroque architecture that he studied while travelling in Europe; this building helped establish Belcher's own fame.
With extensions and updates taking place throughout its history, some areas have a strong art-deco feel that juxtaposes the building's original features. Today, designers have renovated the building to cater to the wants and needs of the events and conferencing market. To do so, they have kept up with the technical developments of the 21st century while retaining the culture and heritage of the original build.
