History
The CVK Park Bosphorus Hotel opened its doors in 2013. It soon became the 'go-to' place in the city. The first property on the site was built at the end of the 19th century by Italian Ambassador Baron Blanc and became an embassy building. Abdülhamid II later bought the mansion (1876-1909) and gave it to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tevfik Pasha, who transformed it from an Italian Embassy into the Mansion of External Affairs. The Swedish wife of Tevfik Pasha, Elisabeth Tschumi, suggested converting the mansion into a hotel. The hotel was initially called 'Miramare' (meaning 'sea-view' or 'sea sight') and later renamed 'Park Hotel' of Istanbul and brought under the management of Aram Hıdır. The hotel operated until 1979 and was known as one of the most luxurious accommodations and social event venues. Park Hotel hosted numerous events with famous and influential guests who visited Istanbul. Some prominent guests were Atatürk, the founder and leader of the Turkish Republic, the King of England, Edward M.S. Simpson VIII, and the Prime Minister of Turkey, Adnan Menderes. Today, the CVK Park Bosphorus Hotel Istanbul reflects Ottoman architecture by blending modern and classical approaches. Each floor is named after one of the Sultanas from the Ottoman Empire and features a variety of costumes that represent each of these periods.
